Hand-grading
Every order is graded by a person who can read pith, knots and run-out. Software helps; it does not decide.
Home/About
Why usPitchPro is a four-acre, family-owned sawmill on Sandy Boulevard in Portland. We saw, dry, plane and finish softwood and hardwood for builders, designers and pallet plants across the Pacific Northwest — and we still call our clients back the same day.
Cascade Timber Holdings was incorporated in 2009 with two band mills, a worn-out forklift and one stubborn idea: that buying timber should feel like talking to the person who actually sawed it. We took on a single client that first year — a deck-builder out in Hood River who needed pine he could trust. He still buys from us.
Today we ship to clients across the lower 48 and as far as Tokyo and Hamburg, but we still grade by hand, still call clients back the same day, and still believe a board is worth more than its bar code.

If a tree did not fall in Oregon, Washington or northern Idaho, we won't claim it did. Provenance on every invoice.
One quote, in writing, including freight and finish. No mid-job upcharges. If we miss a cost, we eat it.
We replant where we cut, train apprentices on the kiln, and back our boards for a lifetime of repair.
Trade visits are welcome by appointment. Bring drawings, bring kids, bring a coffee.
